GMTB1-Glentress to Peebles over Venlaw

A good route for mixing a bit of waymarked MTB trail riding with some natural cross-country trails in the western section of Glentress Forest. Can be a bit muddy in some sections when wet but a good route with options for riding some black XC trail and also some off-piste for the more confident rider.

Autumn 2025 update this route is now fully open after being blocked by storm damage a few years ago.

We like… good varied route with extensive views over to Edinburgh and Fife on a good day from Venlaw. Also options to ride more challenging sections and some challenging off-piste trails nearby.

Great descent from Venlaw down into Peebles for coffee.

Watch out for… Some shortish muddy sections and probably best avoided when wet or during the winter months or just go for it.  Slippery leaves at times on the descent to Peebles just before the gate across the track!
