A rewarding route, easy to navigate with great views and a good introduction to Tweed Valley gravel riding. This ride climbs to Kirnie Law reservoir, built in 1919 to power the mills in the town below. Although now obsolete, the empty reservoir and its huge graffitied concrete walls are a well-known feature and a reminder of Innerleithen’s industrial past and hydro scheme.

We like… the striking sight of Kirnie Law reservoir. Stunning 180 degree views from the top particularly in August when the heather is in bloom.

Watch out for… Some long, fast descents which pass Enduro mtb trail exits beside the forest road , watch out for riders on your left!   Please note there is approx 600m of very rough track after the reservoir , some riders may prefer to push along this section and just take in the stunning views!

Tree removal during weekdays so this route is currently open weekends only, please obey signage and be aware of timber lorries and stop and stand to one side when they approach.
