Scottish Borders Cycling at its best. This route goes through the Grey Mare’s Tail nature reserve and passes the UK’s 5th highest waterfall at 60 metres high. This is a stunning glacial valley and home to osprey, peregrine falcons and feral goats! One of the best rides in the area. Quiet roads and magnificent scenery throughout. Another must do and in 2023  become the new Tour of the Borders sportif route.

We like… Moffat is perfectly placed mid-way for café stop. The Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall and Devil’s Beef Tub are two striking features on the ride.

Watch out for… Be self-sufficient – you’re cycling through a remote and exposed landscape and the weather conditions can change very quickly. Some very long descents may feel cold and sometimes mist can linger on the hill tops.  The cafe at St Marys Loch is seasonal.
