A classic gravel route that leaves Peebles and quickly joins a gravel track up Soonhope valley and into Glentress Forest.Well surfaced forest roads* carry you to the mast at Dunslair Heights before a long descent back down to the Leithen Water and Innerleithen.

*Update:2025. The last half of climb to the mast is on a newly surfaced road , currently not fully finished and loose surface.  Pushing sections maybe required  esp.on a gravel bike due to wheelspin and the steep gradient.

We like… Ride out of the centre of Peebles straight onto gravel and ride over the hills to Innerleithen. Rideable all year round. Climbing first half, descent second half!

Watch out for… This route has a few rough sections and some steeper climb sat the start. Self-sufficiency required as it’s remote at the top .Occasional heavy timber lorries coming down the forest road beside Leithen Water.
