A classic gravel route that leaves Peebles and quickly joins a gravel track up Soonhope valley and into Glentress Forest.Well surfaced forest roads carry you to the mast at Dunslair Heights before a long descent back down to the Leithen Water and Innerleithen.

Summer/ Autumn  2023 ongoing works in Glentress building cabins has blocked access , choose another route  or just follow the signed up red/blue Mtb climb out of Glentress trail centre to the site compound , rideable on a gravel bike, follow the black route diversion for a short distance and you will rejoin the gpx track  turning right after a riding a section of new forest road .

i.e You will rejoin the gpx track after a short descent on the new forest road and bear right at the junction climbing again steeply at point 8 on the instructions.

We like… Ride out of the centre of Peebles straight onto gravel and ride over the hills to Innerleithen. Rideable all year round. Climbing first half, descent second half!

Watch out for… This route has a few rough sections and some steeper climb sat the start. Self-sufficiency required as it’s remote at the top .Occasional heavy timber lorries coming down the forest road beside Leithen Water.
