IR1-The Ettrick & Tweed Valley

This route heads south into the lovely Ettrick Valley following a well-surfaced road to Selkirk before returning to Innerleithen along a minor road which runs parallel to the River Tweed. A route that allows plenty of mindful contemplation away from the crowds!

We like… Stunning Ettrick Valley, long gentle descent into Selkirk from Berrybush Forest.

Watch out for… Unpredictable sheep on the descent to the Gordon Arms from Paddy Slacks. A remote route – be prepared. Advised to phone ahead to Cross Key Inn at Ettrickbridge if planning to stop there. The Bee Hive cafe a mile after the Tushie Law Inn a few km off route is a great place to stop and then retrace back to the route.
