Set in the Moorfoots the Bowbeat Wind Farm was Scotland’s most powerful wind farm when built in 2002. Twenty four turbines are sited on the hill, linked by a network of good tracks that are ideal for gravel biking. On a good day, the views from the top extend to Edinburgh and beyond to Fife – a classic gravel route.

We like…stunning vistas of the valleys, the wind farm and across to Edinburgh and beyond to Fife. Possibly the finest gravel route in the area.

Watch out for… the wind farm is exposed and can be extremely windy – this is a route where you should be equipped for all weather conditions – self-sufficiency required.
