This ride departs Innerleithen High St and uses the Tweed Valley Railway path beside the river to Cardrona where it then climbs through Cardrona Forest on a gravel road, before emerging onto open moorland with stunning views.
You will then drop down into the picturesque Glen Estate on a fun grassy singletrack You will then turn and climb again on a gravel road to a remote house at Glenshiel Bank. The setting is super fantastic, especially in fine weather.
A lumpy moorland path will then take you downhill to stunning Loch Eddy and the boathouse before a mainly downhill ride back to Innerleithen on faster terrain to replenish that energy in a choice of places in the High St.
Great For: non technical mtb xc ride with stunning views , the two long climbs are on well surfaced tracks. Take a dip in Loch Eddy on a hot day and then stop off in the Durty Brewing Tap Room on your return to quench your thirst.
Watch Out for: Be prepared as this ride is exposed to the weather and has the odd wet/muddy section. Take water and snacks!
There may be the odd timber truck or horse riders in Cardrona forest. Stop for both and let them pass. The horse riders maybe on hired horses from the nearby stables so even extra care needed. Thanks.
Please also respect the Glen Estate and those who work and live here.
