This route follows the Southern Upland Way to the Three Brethren above Yair. These huge 9 foot high stone cairns were erected at the start of the 16th century by the lairds of Yair, Selkirk and Philiphaugh to mark the boundary of their land. This is a challenging route for experienced self-sufficient bikers with a true back-country feel to it. It’s wild and exposed and affords some stunning 360 views at the summit of Brown Knowe.

We like… Spectacular views as you traverse the hills to the impressive Three Brethren Cairns.

Watch out for… This is a physically demanding route with a long climb for the first 6km. Be prepared, carry plenty of food and water – this is back country biking – it’s likely to take longer than you think.
